Whenever I have strawberries on hand, my favorite keto recipes to make are a smoothie, strawberry almond milk, and these keto chocolate covered strawberries.
They say the most simple of desserts are the most delicious. As much as I love baking the most extravegant of cakes or multi layered brownies, deep down, I love the simple flavors and minimal ingredients.
Since going keto, I’ve found ways to satisfy my sweet tooth without needing to go to great lengths. As someone who used to regularly enjoy fruit, I never wanted to cut it out of my diet completely. Instead, I enjoy fruit, especially berries, in small portions, and always with something chocolate. Recently, I’ve become obsessed with dipping fresh strawberries in melted chocolate!
I’ve been meaning to share a keto chocolate covered strawberries recipe for quite some time. It’s such a simple dessert but certainly impresses others when it’s on offer! It literally needs two ingredients and takes seconds to prepare!
No sugar and no dairy are needed, but you’d never tell. The texture of chocolate is thin yet firm, but holds well on the strawberries. They are pleasantly sweet and have the perfect combination of fruit and chocolate.
Whenever I have a friends birthday or party to attend, I love preparing a huge batch of these chocolate covered strawberries- No one believes me when I tell them they are low carb!
How do you make keto chocolate covered strawberries?
- Strawberries– Fresh strawberries, preferably all the same size. Be sure that they are washed and completely dry.
- Keto chocolate– Either a chopped up chocolate bar or sugar free chocolate chips.
- Coconut oil– Optional, but adding a dash of coconut oil to the melted chocolate helps the chocolate be easier to bite into.
Start by washing your strawberries well, before patting them completely dry. Once dry, add your chocolate and coconut oil into a microwave safe bowl and microwave it in 30 second spurts until melted. Next, line a large plate with parchment paper. Moving quickly, dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate until 2/3 coated. Place the chocolate covered strawberries on the lined plate and let it sit for 30 minutes, for the chocolate to firm up.
Tips to make the best low carb chocolate covered strawberries
- If even a tiny bit of your strawberries are still wet (or have moisture), the chocolate will harden with a slightly off color, which is not what we want!
- Change up the chocolate coating by swapping out half the chocolate for a keto white chocolate.
- Feel free to use other low carb fruits, like blueberries, raspberries, and even cranberries!
Storing and freezing chocolate covered strawberries
- To store: Chocolate covered strawberries can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you’d like them to keep longer, store them in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
- To freeze: Place the strawberries in a ziplock bag and store them in the freezer for up to 2 months. The chocolate will lose its sheen but it will still be very delicious.

Wash your strawberries very well and pat them completely dry, ensuring there is no moisture on them.
Line a large plate with parchment paper. In a microwave safe bowl, add your chocolate chips and coconut oil and microwave until melted. Whisk together until combined.
Dip each strawberry into the melted chocolate, covering 2/3 of the fruit. Place the chocolate covered strawberries onto the lined plate and let it sit for 30 minutes, or until the chocolate has firmed up.
