More than 60 amazing keto recipes for a healthy Fourth of July. Everything from appetizers to desserts to cocktails. It’s easy to stick to your keto diet with this helpful holiday menu plan.
Holidays can be the hardest for people on a keto diet, but it really doesn’t have to be that way. I’m of the mind that almost any favorite holiday food can be made keto friendly. It just takes a little ingenuity.
And with summer holidays like 4th of July, I think it’s even easier. The focus is often on grilled foods and fresh sides, with maybe a little red, white, and blue thrown in for good measure. And as long as you stick to keto red white and blue options, like berries and cream, you’re fine.
How to Enjoy a Keto Fourth of July
The thing about a keto diet is that it takes a bit of practice. You learn to change your mindset and no longer view family get togethers and holiday celebrations as minefields of carbs and sugar. Instead, you begin to see opportunity. Opportunity to enjoy fresh healthy foods in new ways, and maybe change people’s minds about what keto really is. And isn’t.
So what can you eat? Load up on the burgers and the dogs (the healthy ones!), of course. Maybe some ribs, maybe grilled chicken, maybe even some shrimp skewers. Or salmon, for the Omega 3s. All healthy and satisfying.
But don’t forget the appetizers and sides. People love to stand around and pick at finger foods before the main course. Think guacamole, slices of cucumber topped with herbed cream cheese, fresh dips and veggies for dipping.
For the sides, salads that focus on fresh summer produce are your best bet. Caprese, cauliflower salad, broccoli salad, cucumber salad, and coleslaw are all great low carb options. You really can’t go wrong and it’s a great way to get in your veggies for the day.
And then have some fun with dessert, showing the world how great sugar-free can taste. Think light and creamy with lots of fresh berries. And keto sheet cakes that feed a hungry crowd. Of course, you may need some popsicles on hand to cool everyone off. Thankfully, those are easily made low carb.
Need some beverages to wash it all down? Virgin or alcoholic, there are plenty of choices. Steer clear of the carb-heavy beers and stick with dry wines and sugar-free drinks. But don’t imbibe too much. Be safe and be smart!
